The internet is an extremely powerful tool for protecting our privacy, security and confidentiality, according to a report published on Tuesday by a nonprofit organization called the Center for Digital Democracy.
The Center for the Digital Democracy’s report said that the internet has also been used to attack businesses, individuals and governments in many cases without a court order.
The report noted that it had not identified any individuals who were targeted by cyberattacks.
However, the group said it would like to see the US government act to restrict the use of the internet by companies and governments.
“It is clear that the public is being targeted by hackers with an unprecedented degree of sophistication,” said Alex Abdo, the co-founder and executive director of the Center.
“We should do everything we can to stop it.”
The Center’s report comes as the FBI is investigating a massive cyberattack that disrupted internet services in the United States, and the company that provides those services has said it will not be making any changes to its systems until the FBI has been notified of the threat.
The FBI has not yet responded to requests for comment on the report.
Cybersecurity expert Adam Langley, who helped found the Center, told The Associated Press that the government has a responsibility to be more proactive in securing the internet.
“The government is not only responsible for protecting the public, but it also has a significant responsibility to take the lead in protecting its own networks,” he said.
The cybersecurity expert said that there is a lack of trust between businesses and governments, and he said that was the source of the attacks.
“If you can’t trust your own government, who will?”
